Newsletter: Vol. 25 Issue 1 (January – February 2021)
Last Christmas spelt a different celebration for many where overseas travel is no longer possible as part of the year-end holidays. To get our fix of entertainment, many of us have turned to our mobile phones and smart TVs for some family entertainment. And that’s what Metta Welfare Association did to continue its fundraising efforts as well as offer enjoyment to all with the Metta Virtual Movie Charity Screening.
In collaboration with CatchPlay+, an online movie and series streaming platform, the virtual charity event which ran through December saw a resounding success with tickets fully redeemed by corporates and individuals. SMJ Furnishings (S) Pte Ltd was among the corporate donors who donated 50 movie packages to the beneficiaries of Metta so that they may enjoy a good year-end over movies with their families. Each movie package consists of 30 days of movie screenings from CatchPlay+, together with unlimited screenings in the movie library and a premium movie voucher. The package is redeemable on the CatchPlay+ website or their mobile app. In addition to the movie package, donors also get a goodie bag to go along with their movie nights.
The last virtual event of 2020 does indeed give off good vibes among our supporters. Says a patron of Metta’s virtual movie event, Ms Ellen Yee,“I choose to support Metta’s charity movie screening because it gives me the opportunity to contribute towards Metta’s various community initiatives. I truly support and believe in Metta’s motto in helping the disadvantaged and less fortunate. The movie screening is also an activity my nieces look forward to during their school break. (sic)”.
Close to $14,000 was raised through the virtual event that proved to be popular with 200 tickets sold out. The Metta Virtual Movie Charity Screening’s success couldn’t have been possible without the support of our sponsors, Honeyworld, La Gourmet, and Speak Good English Movement, and our supportive donors.
